Never seen before, this footage is of a 1950′s Social Media News Special Broadcast. It concerns a certain gentleman called ‘Conor Lynch’ who has had some good news in making a marketing awards short-list. How they predicted this news 50 years before it happened is truly remarkable!
However, to help this helpful fellow claim the overall social media prize, please vote for him in the iia Net Visionary Awards before 6pm on Sept. 2nd 2011 -- your support will be much appreciated!

Today’s Digital & Social Media Strategy Workshop is well under way with a great crowd from a diverse range of backgrounds. This morning Conor has covered a variety of topics outlining the benefits of social media for all sorts of businesses!
It’s the X-Factor of the online world and SocialMedia.ie is down to the final four!
Shortlisted in the ‘Best Use of Social Media’ category (sponsored by Blacknight) of the Irish Internet Association’s Dot ie Net Visionary Awards 2011, Conor Lynch needs your vote!
The Net Visionary Awards, now in their 13th year, celebrate the brightest and best in the internet industry and are the only online awards run and voted on by the internet industry in Ireland.
The ‘Best Use of Social Media’ category recognises the person or company who has demonstrably displayed best practice use of social media for driving business growth through the use of social commerce, social media for customer engagement, customer support or other social media integration. If you think Conor ticks these boxes then give him your vote by clicking here and following the simple steps.
Now excuse us while we go air our tuxedos and starch our shirts for the Net Visionary Awards ceremony at the National Gallery of Ireland, 7PM, September 30th.
Reproduced from ‘The age of the stalker’ in the Irish Independent, Saturday Jul 16 2011

As a term, ‘stalking’ has been bandied about with sheer abandon.
To some extent, we’ve all done it — or, in a likely fit of pique or as a half-joke, breathlessly accused someone else of stalking us. Yet the inescapable truth remains that, thanks to technology, it has never been an easier time to be a stalker. But when does the innocent perusal of someone’s holiday pictures end and something more sinister begin?
